Seville is an ancient city rich in history, its numerous monuments and artistic wealth bearing witness to its influential past. There are various categories of buildings: Civil architecture, comprising palaces, government buildings, palatial houses, hospitals, the university etc. Where ecclesiastic architecture is concerned, Seville is one of the cities with most churches and convents. Two important exhibitions celebrated in Seville (Iber-American in 1929 and Universal in 1992), the artistic patrimony continued to grow and embellish the city. There are many notable museums, the majority of which are housed in magnificent buildings and the bridges crossing the wide Guadalquivir river are varied in style and are an important part of Seville’s patrimony. Perhaps however, Seville is most renowned for is busy social life, in which between 'tapas' bars, beers and the warmth of its people, it is impossible to be bored for a single minute.
