This beautiful reformed finca in Pedreguer is in a really central location being close to the popular coastal resorts of Denia, Javea and Moraira and minutes from the huge stretch of unspoilt beach of Deveses. It is an absolutely perfect holiday destination as there is something for everyone from shopping (Marina Alta shopping mall), swimming, playing golf or tennis to hiking, cycling, riding, quad biking, paint balling, having a day at the luxury spa in the five star Marriot Hotel, taking a drive to admire the stunning mountain ranges and lush green valleys or quite simply just relaxing by the pool. In addition there is always the huge market which takes place every Sunday on the Pedreguer industrial estates and encompasses both a large fruit and vegetable market and hundreds of other stalls selling both new and second hand items.

Surrounded by rich farming land, where a wide variety of fruit and vegetables are grown and dominated by the mountain that acts as a backdrop to the town, nestles the sprawling town of Pedreguer. Pedreguer has managed to escape mass tourism and remains a typically traditional Spanish market town with narrow, winding streets and an abundance of brightly coloured houses which give the town a lively appearance. Although Pedreguer, which is steeped in history, adheres to its customs it is modern at heart and offers a very comprehensive range of services as well as a number of supermarkets, shops, restaurants and bars. The village has several modernist buildings and on the Plaza Major is a structure called ‘Poixens’ where the Saturday market is held it is here that you can admire the original Arabic tiles and the 19th Century facades. Not far from the latter is the 16th Century Santa Cruz church with the police station next door where you can admire the amazing ancient buildings as well as the finely carved drinking fountain which is in the foreground. A short walk takes you to the Ermita de Sant Blais chapel which was built in 1994 and is the destination for the annual Romeria. It is from here that you can enjoy the superb panoramic views which encompass not only the town but the amazing Montgo mountain with its national park and the impressive Segaria mountain range. Just outside Pedreguer is a residential area called Monte Pedreguer where there is a vantage point named by the Spanish as a ‘Mirador’ from which on clear days you can take in the truly spectacular mountain and valley views through to the glistening Mediterranean Sea.

No matter what time of year you choose to take your holiday Pedreguer has something happening and the local Spanish people are more than happy for visitors to participate in their events and enjoy the fun. The main events commence on the 5th & 6th January with the “Three Kings” (Reyes Magos) which is the traditional Spanish Christmas celebration when the children receive their presents. The 17th January sees the celebration of the blessing of the animals in a fiesta called San Antonio Abad with a Romeria at the Ermita Sant Blais. The 3rd February brings the religious Sant Blai festival which encompasses concerts, sporting events and a procession which ends at the church – the local ‘Porrat’ is top of the menu! In the last week in February there are seven days of carnival fun which includes parades, fancy dress, dancing in the streets and the ultimate highlight the cremation and burial of the Sardine! Like all the villages and towns Pedreguer has a huge summer “Fiesta” which lasts for ten days starting in the middle of July and is in honour of San Buenaventura. This also celebrates the Moors and Christians. Each day has a special theme (a brochure is produced to let everyone know the sequence of events). Some of the highlights include live bands on stage, bull running, parades with both adults and children in stunning regal costumes and a variety of bands playing classical Spanish music all of which tour around the streets of the large village. Later in the year on the 8th December there is a fiesta with a further full week of celebrations which is a perfect run up to Christmas.

In addition to what the comprehensive town of Pedreguer can offer whichever direction you go in there are things to both see and do. Apart from the amazing coast and its resorts in close proximity is the fabulous Orba Valley which has copious orange groves and a number of traditional Spanish villages all of which have stunning views through to the Mediterranean Sea. At the end of this valley is the Val de Laguar which is famous for its cherry growing and also has a number of beautiful restaurants that specialise in serving wild boar. Over the mountains, a short drive away, is the equally stunning Jalon valley which in February boasts the spectacular almond blossom and the miles and miles of vineyards. This valley also has a wealth of different restaurants and bars all nested in the lovely villages. There really is so much to do and so many places to see!!!!
