This is the second time we have stayed in this lovely apartment. It is in a wonderful position, roomy, comfortable and very well equipped, with beautiful views and a grassy terrace with sun beds. It has all the advantages of the Lorymer resort including the lovely swimming pool and restaurant if you want or just do self catering and make use of some of the good restaurants in Turunc. I would absolutely recommend it and I hope we will be back again. The only small bit of advice I would give for anyone who has any walking problems,there is a climb up from the parking place along sloping paths through attractive garden terraces.

Let me start by saying that this is out 10th year renting self-catering apartments/villas in Turkey so we have been in the best and worst of places! This is the best apartment in the best resort that we have ever stayed in – it gets 5 stars on all accounts! I am an avid researcher of places to stay and read every review of the resort and the apartment and it still exceeded our expectations. We stayed in this fantastic 2-bedroom apartment for 10 days in July 2016. It was fabulous! Here is the summary of the apartment: • The kitchen: We love to cook while in Turkey and buy the local fresh produce. The apartment has one of the best kitchens we have ever used in Turkey. It is a great sized modern kitchen with large fridge and freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer, electric oven and hob and a variety of appliances (juicer and so on). Loads of glasses, plates, saucepans, frying pans and cutlery and plenty of storage places. If I wanted to be really picky I might say there should be a few more bowls and serving bowls for salads. But that is my only criticism of the entire apartment! • The sitting and dining areas: perfect size – loads of space. Big kitchen table and loads of chairs. Comfortable couches (one expands into a bed which we didn’t use), coffee table, TV and a beautifully decorated space with lovely rugs and Turkish plates and ornaments on display. • Bathrooms: perfect! All you need – baths and showers and plenty big! • Bedrooms: two bedrooms – both with loads of storage – far more than we needed but great if you travel with a lot of stuff! • Temperature: The apartment is in shade all the time which is perfect for the Turkish summer! However there are more air conditioning units and fans than I have every seen in a Turkish apartment rental – so it was nice to be able to cool down the bedrooms before we went to bed at night. • Balconies: two little balconies looking out on the gardens and spectacular views over Turunc bay. We sat there in the evenings and read, watched movies and just enjoyed the views. There is balcony furniture and all you’d need. • Wifi- yes yes yes! Appreciated by us all! Loryma, the resort, is a paradise for all those who value beautiful views, calm and serenity and a professionally run health-style resort all situated in the sunny climate of Western Turkey. Here are some of the main features and selling points of the resort: • Beautiful views: Loryma is nestled into the mountainside overlooking Turunc bay. The views are stunning and we found ourselves unable to draw our eyes from the beautiful sea and coastline as we watched the boats come and go all day. The resort is designed to maximize these views which are visible form the apartments, the pool, restaurant and both bar areas. • The layout and architecture: The resort is beautiful – fabulous trees everywhere, pine trees, fig trees, cacti, giant aloe Vera plants (I think) and many other wonderous trees and plants. Reminded me of an arboretum! There is amazing attention paid to beautiful blocked walls and the architectural considerations everywhere are astounding in a very subtle, artistic, and respectful (to the environment) way. There also are residential rabbits which hop around (the white one was my favourite) and we spotted a few giant tortoises take a little walk around! • Management of the resort: The resort is German run and the professionalism, honesty and integrity of the management is reflected throughout the resort (see my comments below on gym, shop and food). We were met by Ulrike who arranged a meeting and told us all about the resort and gave us a welcome pack with maps, details of food, activities and so on. • The activities: As this is a health-style resort the emphasis is on healthy food and living/activites. There were many activities ranging from kayaking, hiking, cycling, yoga … and more. We avoided the strenuous activities due to the heat (but tougher types might be braver!). However we LOVED THE YOGA!! Sunesh does yoga session three mornings a week from 8am-9am (and they were free!). It took place under the huge pine trees and we could see the beautiful forests and bay as we did the yoga. Sunesh was great – very patient and kind! It all felt very zen!! Also the outdoor guy (I can’t remember his name) had free sessions on the climbing wall every evening from 5:30-7pm. Everyone loved it! There is a games room with table tennis and a pool table and some other little areas to sit and read at the indoor pool. • The pool: Our children loved the main adult pool – it is about 25 metres long and about 2.5 m deep for the most part. It is spectacularly clean and well maintained. We could watch the children in the pool, pop in to cool down ourselves and all while experiencing the beautiful view from the pool of the bay. And most interesting there are no unsightly umbrella’s! Why? Because the poolside is surrounded by massive fig trees and hazelnut trees (I think) which provide great shade for those who want to hide form the 30+ degree heat in July! There is also an indoor pool and children’s pool. • The gym: The resort has a gym just above the main pool that has 3 treadmills, a cross trainer and some weights machines. As the resort is on the side of a mountain it makes running outside difficult (and consider the heat!) so I took advantage of the treadmill several times. I also appreciated that there was no charge for use of these (as I have experienced in many other resorts and apartment complexes). • The shop and value-for-money in the resort: There is a little mini-shop beside the main reception that has most everything you might need: milk, soft drinks, cheese, pasta, crisps and biscuits, fresh bread daily, ice-cream and household products (they didn’t stock meat or veg). The uniqueness of this shop was in my mind the prices! They were supermarket prices – an ice-cream for the children was 1 turkish lira (about 30 cent) – I have stayed in other resorts which have really exploited residents and charged x3 and x4 the prices. • Catering for children: This resort caters for children in many ways that we really appreciated. Children’s pool: There is a lovely children’s pool in the facility located up near the children’s playhouse. This little pool has a slide which all the little people appeared to love. I also saw many parents sit there in the shade and read while their children played in a safe and shallow pool. Children’s club: This was great! They have their own building – which looks like a gingerbread house and has a beautiful design. The main play person is Melanie (originally from Holland) who seems to speak every language imaginable! They have lovely activities for children that cater for young kiddies and older ones (like my 9 and 11 year old): Yoga: My children did yoga with Sunesh which happens twice a week and they LOVED it! Cookie making: Melanie and the children made chefs hats and visited the main kitchens where the chef had made cookie dough. The children cut out the cookies which were baked and then presented on a little stand in the main restaurant area that night at dinner time. We didn’t have dinner that night and Melanie delivered some to our apartment. Swimming: another activity was a swimming activity where the children had fun little races (with inflatables) in the indoor pool. The focus was on fun and making friends which I appreciated rather than winners and losers. All winners (which happened to be every child due to fabulous Melanie!!) got an ice cream which they all happily ate poolside at the end of the day. Other activities: There were many other activities which my children didn’t take part in but I imagine which were great fun: ghost tours, getting to know each other, cartoons and so on ….). • The food: The resort has its own farm and gardens, which produce the food in the restaurant. We stayed in a 2 bedroom self catering apartment but could also purchase packages or food in the restaurant. While we were self-catering we didn’t actually eat in the main restaurant, however, the other people we met had great reviews. The resort has cows that produce all its own dairy (milk, cheeses and so on) and gardens for fruit and vegetables. We did eat at the bar at lunch time and they have a nice selection of food at reasonable prices. Lunch for the 4 of us including a salad nicoise and 3 burgers + chips (Note that the chicken burger were fillets of chicken and not those horrible mass-processes chicken burgers), soft drinks for all and a beer cost 75TL or 25€). The menu has salads, Turkish cuisine, and the usual selection of burgers and chips which I saw many children loving. Also a wide selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages. The alcoholic drinks are more reflective of European prices. Who may not like Loryma: o If you love loud music played poolside all day with all nigh parties! [they played a variety of music at a very low volume in some areas – zen peace-pipe type stuff in the indoor pool area also!) But you can always get the dolmus (for 7 turkish lira) into Marmaris and party the night away. o If you have mobility issues. The big selling point of the resort being nestled in a mountain side also MAY make it difficult to navigate for people with limited mobility. There are many steps, however, alongside there are ramps and I did see a person in a wheelchair. If you do have concerns, I suggest that you call the resort and look for an apartment near the reception as these are more accessible. But you do need a little energy going up and down steps …. On the upside it might help work off some of the lovely food you’ll eat!
