The Bothy at Ivy Cottage is located just off the A69, the main route that connects Newcastle (32 miles) and Carlisle (21 miles)

Haltwhistle, a 5-drive from Ivy Cottage and our nearest town, has a train station with regular connections to both Newcastle, Carlisle and beyond. As well as local bus services which connects the town to Hadrians Wall, as well as other local towns such as Hexham, Corbridge and Brampton.

We are ideally located to visit Hadrians Wall, Vindolanda, Housesteads, Birdoswalk, all just a short drive away

We are also located close the North Pennies AONB and within easy reach of the both the Kielder Forest and Northumberland National Park.

Costal towns such as Amble, Seahouses, Craster, Holy Island and Bamburgh can be reached within at most an hour and half drive.

Newcastle Airport can be reached by car in 45mins, or there is a train which connects the airport to Newcastle Central from where you can pick up the local train to Haltwhistle.

And you can be in the Lake District within an 1hr:20 from the cottage.
