Thanks to the new motorway, Kalamata is now easily accessible from Athens Airport which offers reasonable flights all year round. It's approx. 230km but the drive is extremely easy on a motorway with little traffic and takes approx. 2 and a half hours. The regular bus service Athens-Kalamata runs all year round and costs approx. 25 euros.

Driving to Kalamata (from all directions apart from Sparti/Mani)

The new A7 motorway makes getting to our apartment really easy.

The last toll booth as you're nearing Kalamata is after Agios Floros. Then you'll then pass exits for Messini/Airport (number 18), Asprochoma/Port (number 19) and then Leika (number 20).

PASS the Leika exit and then take the next exit marked Kalamata (number 21). This brings you down onto a roundabout. Follow the sign for "centre", which means you'll turn right off the roundabout. After about 200m, you'll pass a BP petrol station and the bus station on your right, and then you'll see Michalou, also on your right. Turn right into Michalou and go straight (about 50m) until you see a big church in front of you. Michalou 21 is the building on the left, exactly opposite the bottom of the church steps. You can park anywhere outside, or up into the church yard if there is no space on the road. The part of the road outside the apartment is one-way, but it's quite easy to come back round in a circle if necessary.
