Ferry: Most people travel to Lewis by sea using Caledonian McBrayne. They operate twice daily services from Ullapool to Stornoway, or alternatively they operate a shorter ferry crossing between Uig (Isle of Skye) and Tarbert (Harris). The Ferry fares are really competitive as opposed to flying and hiring a car. BE SURE THAT THERE ARE SPACES ON THE FERRY BEFORE BOOKING HOUSE.

Carloway is about 24 miles from Stornoway, and about 45 miles from Tarbert. Follow signs for Càrlabhagh (Carloway) on the A858. Remember to look out for the Gaelic name on road signs. When you reach Carloway you pass over the only flyover in the Western Isles and turn hard left heading for the pier signposted Cidhe Càrlabhagh. Follow the road to the right and it is the last house on the right with red garage door.
